What is the Chikungunya Virus Antibody IgM test? The chikungunya virus is more commonly known as and is a single-stranded RNA arbovirus. The chikungunya antibody IgM test is done to diagnose patients with recent or past ChikV infections. Mostly, the virus is known to affect inhabitants of Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean islands. Interestingly, the name is derived from the ethnic tribe Makonde of southeast Africa. A person who is infected with ChikV has unbearable joint pain.
