What is the Echinococcus Antibody (Hydatid) IgG test? Echinococcosis (Hydatid disease) is a parasitic infection in human beings caused by two main species, viz., and multilocular. The Echinococcus species belongs to the family of tapeworms, or cestodes. Human beings are intermediate hosts and are infected accidentally by the ingestion of parasitic eggs or cysts. A screening test for the diagnosis of Echinococcus IgG antibodies is useful for the screening of Echinococcus.
